Ch ch ch changes

Good morning!

As you likely notice, there are some changes happenin’ up in here. My goodness this little blog has come to mean so much to me lately. I can’t believe it took me so long to start it, and I am not sure why I wasn’t writing more before! I am so grateful to everyone who is reading along and sharing so much support, friendship and love. Thank you so much.

I’ve also created a Facebook page for Hysterically Ever After, where I will share my posts along with some other fun stuff like photos and even contest! So just click the link above to like, share and enjoy!

As for my progress around the humble abode, I am SUPER excited to share my dining room table and chairs with you today. In recent months I have gone through no fewer than four – yes FOUR dining room sets. Not because I’m a crazy and indecisive person, but because I typically paint them or refinish them and then sell them. I’m kind of like a foster home for furniture. Or a trafficker. That second really didn’t sound as nice, though.

Anyhoo here is a glimpse back at some of my temporary dining room decor!

I started out with a standard, dark wood Ikea set – all matchy matchy and stuff… apologies for the weird photos, but these were pre-blogging days so I don’t have proper ones!

You get the idea though.. dark wood, not very well built and pretty cheap looking with zero style:

Then I moved on to my obsession with refinishing and brought this 100 year old table home and painted it:

That one never even made it into the house. lol… it lived in the garage and is actually for sale right now.
We move forward now, as I became fascinated with round tables:

pedestalThat one above might not be in the dining room anymore, but I am keeping it. It’s too small for our family of five, but I just KNOW that in our next home we will have a breakfast nook that it will be perfect for!

round tableLOVE LOVE LOVE the base on this one, and kind of regret selling it. It was slightly larger than the round table in the first pic, but still not big enough and thus, it needed to go.

Which brings us to the present day. I recently struck gold on one of my Facebook auction pages, and brought home this stunning table with six chairs and two leaves… for $40.

I am so in love with this set. I can’t decide if I want to paint it, leave it, or just lie on it and kiss it. It’s SO lovely!

I’m even okay with the current fabric on the seat cushions.. it’s a soft yellow and while it’s a little old fashioned it still looks great in the space:

I think at some point I might just paint the chairs and the base/legs of the table a cream or white, leaving the gorgeous wood top alone. BUT then I dabble on Pinterest and find stuff like THIS and I just don’t know anymore!!

Am I THAT crazy and colourful? Or is this better in a kitchen? I always say I want to be more daring, bring in more colour and excitement to my home… but I’m not sure if I’m THAT joyous or excited.. lol. Maybe I will save something like that for the pedestal table that’s going in my imaginary eventual breakfast nook.

Thoughts? Anyone out there going colour crazy lately? It’s just one of those things where I see it, and I love it.. but I’m not sure I can pull it off in MY house, ya know?

OMG your dining room is perfection. The white furniture with that table is stunning, do not change that table!! And I love the fabric on the chairs. The whole room is great.

Thanks, Paige! Isn’t that photo stunning? I definitely am just planning to live with it for a while and see where it takes me.

Hey there! Try putting a colorful table runner on the table that repeats the yellow from the chairs or some of the blue from your sofa in the adjoining room. I bet you may just want to keep the table unpainted for a little while longer! I love the legs on the table so pretty! Great find/deal!!!

$40!!!!!! Seriously, I wanna live where you live! I can never seem to find deals that good (or free street finds, either). I can’t wait to see what you do with it. Also, I’d love to hear your Facebook experience… I feel like once I started my page, a lot of my Facebook followers weren’t seeing my posts. I’m wondering if I’m doing it wrong, so would love to see what you think once you have your page for a bit. Ill head over and like you right now. :)

Hmm I’m not sure about the followers not seeing your posts? The giveaway will certainly help with that!
And isn’t that table and chairs to die for? Definitely an amazing score. This Facebook auction page that I belong to is a TROVE of treasures. This particular one had zero bids on it!! I waited until it ended and then sent the seller a private message and got it for MUCH less than she was asking. Total score!
