I’ve been a busy “B”!

Cheesiest post title ever, but it was going to happen at some point so let’s just move past it.

I can’t believe how excited I am that the weather is finally turning around and allowing me to spend a few hours on the driveway with my paint! When we left off last week I was pretty excited to have just found this amazing table at the end of someone’s driveway waiting to go to the dump!

free tableNaturally I scooped her up and brought her home, and I wasted no time in breathing some new life into her! Yesterday was just lovely outside and with the little ones napping at Nana’s I turned on some music and spent an afternoon in my happy place…

SAMSUNG PICS april 28 2014 133It’s an unbelievably huge job!! All of those grooves and carvings are really tough to cover and it’s going to take a lot more time to finish, but it looks so amazing already! I wish I’d gotten the email of the people I rescued it from… I’d love to show them the “after” when it’s done.

I’ve decided that I’m going to sell it when it’s complete… the base is just too heavy (both literally and visually) for our dining room, and besides I already HAVE a gorgeous table for that space – but we’ll get to that in a minute. ; )

Deciding to sell the table had a big hand in helping me decide what to do with it. If I was keeping it I would likely have gone with some colour but since I need it to appeal to the masses I need to keep it neutral. I have painted the bottom in Annie Sloan’s “Old White” chalk paint, and I’m going to leave the top as it is since it’s in pristine condition. I think the contrast will be lovely and modern but still have a nice traditional look. Hopefully I can finish it up this week, it’s kinda taking up a lot of space in the garage!

While we’re on the topic of dining tables… as I said, I do have one that I can’t wait to paint and beautify! I got an AMAZING deal the other day on a Facebook auction page that I belong to. I managed to buy this set for $40. Yup… this gorgeous table with two leaves and six chairs for $40:

And just look at those sexy legs!

So I am prettttttty excited about these babies. I have a MILLION ideas for them and I am forcing myself to not let a drop of paint touch them until I know for sure what I want to do. Here are some ideas I’m mulling over!!

I love the look of the wood table top and painted legs!

4I’ve been dying to try Annie Sloan’s “Duck Egg Blue”…

2So I’m pretty certain I’m going to leave the table top as is, paint the legs in the Duck Egg Blue and distress them. And the for the chairs…

3Yup…. imagine that. BURLAP! I’m going to do the chairs in Old White (just like the free table I scored above) and then redo the seats in a burlap-type fabric. The photo above gives you a pretty solid idea of what the finished product will look like, and I LOVE IT!

So that’s some of what will keep me busy this week… yes, just some. I have a lot of plans for the piles of furniture that are in the garage and the sun shining down is acting like some kind of FUEL making me want to get down and dirty… with paint.

What can I say? Whatever floats your boat, right? Any paint projects you’re working on? Any indecision you’re suffering from? LOL… not that I can help or anything, I just want to know I’m not alone.
